BLT, the classic Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato sandwich Written By: Shantel Whitford Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 15 minutes Print Recipe Ingredients 16 slices of bacon 8 slices of your favorite bread 1 large tomato sliced 1 head of lettuce (romaine is my favorite) 4 teaspoons mayo (more if you like) Instructions In a deep skillet cook the bacon according to package directions. While the bacon is cooking, slice the tomato and lettuce. Drain the cooked bacon on paper towels to absorb excess grease. Toast the bread, then spread the mayo on the bread. Stack 4 pieces of bacon, 2 slices of tomato, and 2 lettuce leaves, then top with the other piece of toasted bread. You can add avocado, cheese, turkey, a fried egg, or any combination of these to create your favorite BLT. Who doesn’t love bacon! These are always a hit at our house and make for a quick and delish dinner, made from ingredients I usually already have on hand. I like to layer a pan with foil ( your pan will need to have edges to help trap grease) and cook our bacon in the oven at about 375 until it reaches our desired crispiness. It is the quickest and simplest way to prepare bacon for my family of seven. What's great about this is that after I pull the bacon off to drain on paper towels, I let the pan cool, and then I can scrape off the bacon butter, as we call it at our house, and keep it in a container in the fridge. Eggs cooked in bacon butter are a treat!
