Dinner Rolls Written By: Shantel Whitford Prep Time: 1 hour Cook Time: 20 to 30 minutes Print Recipe Ingredients 1 3/4 cup warm water about 140 degrees 2 packets of dry active yeast or 2 Tbsp yeast 1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs 1/2 cup or 1 stick of butter melted/softened 1 tsp salt 6 cups flour Instructions Preheat oven to 375. In a large bowl mix together warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for a few minutes until yeast starts to foam. Add eggs, butter, salt, and 3 cups of flour and mix well. Add the remaining 3 cups of flour and knead for 6 to 8 minutes until the dough is soft. Let set on the counter for 30 minutes under a towel. Once the dough has risen, punch down and pull off golf ball size dough balls and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. You can leave an inch or so between them or place them close together to make pull-apart style dinner rolls. Bake in the oven for 20-30 min until golden brown. Once they come out, I like to take a cold stick of butter and glaze the tops of the hot rolls. These are the same rolls my grandmother likes to make when we are all coming over for a family dinner! This recipe can be made up to two days ahead of time and kept in the fridge until you're ready to bake. This is our favorite dinner roll/bread recipe, and it's a quick and easy recipe so my kids love to make them, too! I love that this recipe is being passed down to another generation in our family!
