Oatmeal Cookies

Written By: Shantel Whitford

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cups oats
  • 1 cup raisins, craisins, chocolate, or butterscotch chips (or any combination)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350. Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside. Cream together the butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time and then add the vanilla and mix well. Add the dry ingredients and mix well again. Drop dough into individually sized cookies onto the baking pan. Bake each batch for 10 to 12 minutes. Let them cool for 1 to 2 minutes on the pan and then move them to a cooling rack.

Warm oatmeal cookies are one of my favorite old-fashioned treats! I love to add butterscotch chips to kick them up a notch. Oatmeal cookies always reminds me of my grandma because she always has cookies in her cookie jar when we go to visit. The kids' favorite thing to do when visiting Grandma is to check out what kind of cookies she's made for us! Adding craisins and white chocolate chips are another way to dress up this recipe! I dare you to try them all! I promise you will not be disappointed.
